“Common Diseases and Their Treatment

Mini Lop rabbits are very easy to care for and keep as pets. However, improper care can lead to some common diseases.

Therefore, prevention and treatment of these diseases are important. Below are some types of diseases, prevention measures, and treatment options if you encounter them while raising your pet:

  1. Hemorrhagic Disease (also known as Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease):
  • This is a highly contagious and rapidly spreading disease, primarily affecting rabbits aged 1.5 months and older. When a rabbit is infected, it becomes lethargic, stops eating, and dies quickly. Before death, the rabbit may exhibit convulsions, circling, and bleeding from the mouth and nose.
  • The only treatment is to vaccinate against Viral Hemorrhagic Disease (VHD), and there is no specific cure.
  1. Coccidiosis:
  • Poor hygiene conditions can lead to this disease in pet rabbits. Signs of infected rabbits include reduced appetite, fur loss, and loose stools.
  • To prevent this disease, it is essential to regularly clean and disinfect the rabbit’s enclosure. If a rabbit becomes infected, you can use Anticoc or HanE mixed with feed at a dosage of 0.1-0.2g/kg of body weight.
  1. Dermatitis (Skin Disease):
  • This disease is often characterized by itching, hair loss, scaly, dry, and hard skin, primarily affecting the ears, paws, and nose of Mini Lop rabbits. In severe cases, it may lead to the formation of pus due to skin infections.
  • To prevent this disease, you should regularly clean and sanitize the rabbit’s enclosure. If your rabbit becomes infected, isolate it and provide appropriate care.”

Please note that it’s essential to consult a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment if your Mini Lop rabbit shows signs of illness.
